Skirting Science is Super!

Nine students from Year 9 visited Taunton School on Wednesday 29th March to take part in a one day event aimed at inspiring the next generation of female scientists and to dispel misconceptions about science careers. Fourteen hands-on workshops ran throughout the day which students could choose to participate in; these included a ‘Sunset in a Tube’ workshop to find out how and why the colour of the sky changes at sunset, a ‘Science in Beauty/Beauty in Science’ workshop where students created and tested a bubble bath/bath soak, and a ‘Water for the World’ workshop where students learnt about water filtration around the world and how it differs.

The girls said “The day was inspirational and fun and has motivated some of us to try and get a career in science.”
