Year 12 students who left Kingsmead this summer were welcomed back to the school for a “Big Reunion” evening on Thursday 15 November. Students were joined by parents, staff and governors to celebrate their individual and collective GCSE successes and for the presentation of academic awards.
The evening began with music provided by Year 10 GCSE Music student Scott Fudge who performed 'Waltz for Emily' on the saxophone.
Danielle Hardy was awarded the Flook Cup for her all-round contribution to school life and Eleanor Redish was awarded the Peace Cup for her outstanding language learning as a dual linguist.
Somerset Duke of Edinburgh Co-ordinator Jeff Brown awarded certificates to those students who achieved their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
Kingsmead was thrilled to welcome special guest speaker Joe Robinson, a former student who now works for the European Investment Bank. Joe spoke with great clarity and passion about taking an ‘entrepreneurial approach to life’ and making the most of every opportunity.
Pete Thompson, Leader of Student Support for the year group said “It has been a pleasure to work with this year group. Well done for all you have achieved both inside and outside of the classroom over the last five years.”
