World Book Day – Thursday 4 March 2021

Posted on Mar 04, 2021

Many exciting activities have been taking place for students in celebration of World Book Day this year.  A dedicated page has been created on Kingsmead’s Firefly site – found on the ‘World Book Day’ page (via ‘Resources’, ‘Extra Curricular’) - and includes:-

  • Our very own ‘Kingsmead Jackanory' - a fantastic collection of book readings by staff and students from their books of choice.  Student offerings include excerpts from Harry Potter (JK Rowling), Heroic Animals (Clare Balding), The Paper & Hearts Society (Lucy Powrie), Private Peaceful (Michael Morpurgo) and the World’s Worst Teachers (David Walliams)!!
  • A World Book Day message from Joseph Elliot (actor and author of books ‘The Good Hawk’ and ‘The Broken Raven’), recorded especially for Kingsmead students.
  • A Guess the Teacher Behind the Book Quiz and Recipes inspired from favourite books.
  • A plethora of ideas and inspiration on books to read.

Students have had the opportunity to take part in a live Enid Blyton themed bake-along session, making carrot and orange muffins, and subject lessons throughout school have incorporated the World Book Day theme into their content.

Thank you to all students and staff for taking part and getting involved.
