Mrs S Hake

Head of Year 11

Suzy Hake

Since starting at Kingsmead in 2003, Suzy has always shown a keen interest in pastoral support and having successfully tutored three tutor groups throughout their Kingsmead experience, she was then appointed Head of Year in 2017.  In the classroom, she works as part of a passionate team of linguists (and occasionally mathematicians) mostly teaching Spanish, some German, a little French and, when required, Maths, as well as co-ordinating delivery of the PSHCE programme across the school.

Suzy works closely with tutors, SLT, classroom and support staff, other outside agencies and parents/carers to develop and encourage effective working relationships both in and out of lessons to ensure students in her year group are guided and supported to achieve of their best through positive attendance, behaviour and wellbeing.

Suzy has been involved in the wider community at Kingsmead through extra-curricular activities such as cooking for staff on Duke of Edinburgh weekends, helping backstage at drama productions, organising and assisting on study visits abroad and a variety of other trips, playing on the staff netball team, running badminton club for students and teaching Spanish classes for adults.

Outside of school, Suzy is Mum to two amazing teenagers, which certainly helps enhance her understanding of some of the issues parents/carers face in raising their young people nowadays. And, in any spare moments, she enjoys anything that involves music, opportunities to read and spending time with family and friends.
